Top Beauty Tips: How To Take Care Of Your Skin

!±8± Top Beauty Tips: How To Take Care Of Your Skin

The skin is the largest organ on the human body. It needs nourishing regularly and a little tender loving care. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity as collagen begins to deteriorate, that causes the skin to become thinner and eventually sag. Collagen works alongside Elastin, combined, they provide the support structure of the skin.

We can-not naturally prevent the aging process without reliance on cosmetic surgery or collagen fillers. But we can take care of our skin.

It goes without saying that a balanced diet and hydration will help in looking and feeling healthy and well.

Your skin reacts to hydration, so it is important to drink plenty of water. It is also important to, cleanse, tone, moisturize and exfoliate your skin regularly.

Where to start?

Develop a beauty routine.

How?

You should get into the habit of developing a beauty routine at least daily; but morning and evening is preferable. This will only take a few minutes a day, the more you practice the less time spent in front of the mirror! The results are worth a few minutes a day.

Remember Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize and Exfoliate.

Step 1. Cleanse your skin to start with. Why? To remove the dirt and pollutants from the atmosphere that has built up over the course of the day. If you wear make-up it is important that you remove your make-up before reapplying. The type of cleanser you use is a matter of personal choice, whether, you opt for a facial wash, a cleansing lotion or a cream. Make sure you know your skin type first to get the maximum out of your cleanser. You do not have to 'scrub' your face clean, treat your skin with respect. After cleansing the next step is toning.

Step 2. Tone, using a cotton pad, start with the 'T zone'; this covers the forehead, down both sides of your nose, then the area between your bottom lip and your chin. This tends to be the 'oily area,' Toner will remove even more dirt from your skin, it also closes your pores. Allow the toner to dry before the next step, applying moisturizer gently all over your face and neck.

Step 3. Moisturizing. Be careful around the eye area, as the skin around the eye area is friable and very thin. It is worth investing in an eye cream, preferably one you can apply at night that will protect and hydrate the eye area. Rub moisturizer between your fingers and then begin sweeping upwards and outwards starting at the neck area, till you have covered the neck and face. Do not apply a lot of pressure, you also do not need to use excessive amounts of cream!

Step 4. Exfoliating - An exfoliator removes dead and dry skin from your body/face. Exfoliators are found in bathing products such as shower gels. This has its advantages as it saves time. Be careful however that you do not use a body exfoliator on your face; the face requires a milder product. You do not need to exfoliate daily!. Weekly is acceptable.

It is probably worth visiting the beauty counter for advice on product type that will suit your skin.

My personal product recommendations: CLARINS Cleanser with Alpine Herbs for dry to normal skin, or the One Step Facial Cleanser for all skin types. A cheaper and very effective gentle skin cleanser is Cetaphil. Toner, try Neutrogena Facial Toning lotion. One of my favourite Moisturizers is Olay Regenerist. Firming eye cream - Perricone MD (available at Sephora). At night for your skin-Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair. Under make-up CLARINS Beauty Flash Balm. Body lotion, try Avon's skin-so-soft products including shower gels with oil. The Body Shop's body butter is fabulous. Look for shower gels that include an exfoliator - available in supermarkets and pharmacies.

Of course I have more products in my closet!

What is the Best Cellulite Cream on the Market?

!±8± What is the Best Cellulite Cream on the Market?

More than 80% of women have cellulite, often despite being of a healthy weight. In a bid to get rid of the dimpled, orange peel look of cellulite, many women turn to cellulite creams. There is a bewildering array of products on the market, but which one of the lotions and potions can be considered the best cellulite cream?

Cellulite creams all work in the same way: they act to smooth and tighten skin, as well as to relieve water retention. It is important to understand that there are some differences between cellulite creams, and not just in their prices, which can be exorbitant. The greatest difference between creams is in terms of their active ingredients. Many cellulite creams contain caffeine, or a caffeine-derivative, which is included to boost circulation to and the metabolism of the cells in the area of cream application. Enhanced metabolic rate means that fat is burned faster and cellulite is reduced. Caffeine is a diuretic, which means that it can also reduce water retention, which is also blamed for exacerbating cellulite.

Some of the best cellulite creams contain collagen, which is intended to improve the skins elasticity and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Retinol is also included in many cellulite creams and acts by penetrating the skin and stimulating collagen production. You may also find cellulite creams that contain dimethylaminoethyl (DMAE), which is an antioxidant derived from fish. This ingredient, in combination with other amino acids, is intended to enhance muscle contraction and hence firm body contours.

In addition to their manufactured counterparts, there are also herbal cellulite creams that may be considered some of the best cellulite creams on the market, if you prefer a more natural approach to cellulite reduction. The active ingredients in these products tend to be citric, tartaric and phytic acids, which are derived from fruits and plants. Herbal cellulite creams, like their cosmetic counterparts, act to firm and tighten the skin, reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Although many cosmetics companies, such as Clarins, Chanel and Estee Lauder market some form of skin-firming, cellulite-reducing creams, a company called Hydroderm has a dedicated range of products that aim to promote younger, healthier skin. The active ingredients in Hydroderm products include marine collagen and Vyo-serum, a natural protein concentrate. Tri-dimensional proteins contained in the Vyo-serum cause the surface of the skin to retract, causing instant skin tightening. Marine collagen has a lower molecular weight than natural collagen, allowing it to more easily penetrate the skin, meaning that its skin-firm and elasticity-promoting properties are more widespread than products that contain other forms of collagen.

Regardless of the type of cellulite cream you choose, and the active ingredients it contains, you will need to use it regularly and for an extended period to see an effect. You should remember that exercise and a healthy diet can also reduce cellulite, and that a cellulite cream is just one prong in your defense against the hail-damaged skin that many women hate.

Anti Aging Fact - 4 Ways Wrinkle Work Their Magic

!±8± Anti Aging Fact - 4 Ways Wrinkle Work Their Magic

Beauty creams have been around from ancient times, so anti aging skin care today isn't a new concept. Egyptian queens were buried with their pots of beauty creams, Kohl and other cosmetics and makeup of their time. Every culture has its form of beauty treatments in a bid to slow the signs of aging. With modern technology, unbelievable claims in the past are plausible today.

Today's wrinkle creams to combat the signs of aging in four ways:

1. Moisturize the skin

A wrinkle cream is basically a moisturizer - an emulsion of water and oil stabilized by emulsifiers. Yes, many other ingredients are involved to get the desired effect but the core purpose of a moisturizer is to protect the skin from dryness.

The oil component locks in the moisture to prevent water from the skin from evaporating away. The water component hydrates the skin. No doubt, there are oil-free moisturizers today that offer protection without the oil, but the water component is always there.

Skin lacking in moisture shrivels up, and can be likened to a prune. Or it flakes off and feels so uncomfortable. Skin plumped up with moisture looks dewy, and younger. One of the most popular water retaining ingredient in skincare today is hyaluronic acid which is found naturally in the skin. That ingredient is also found in many of today's wrinkle creams. Other moisture enhancing ingredients include glycerin and purified water.

2. Use antioxidants to neutralize free radicals

Now, free radicals are often blamed for the aging signs on our skin. The antidote? Antioxidants. The typical anti aging cream today would contains antioxidants in some form or other.
Let me explain this.

Free radicals are highly reactive molecules that are missing an electron. They cause oxidization (loss of electrons) of the molecules they come in contact with. When free radicals come into contact with the cells in your body, they damage your cells at a molecular level. This damage is thought to be the cause of aging. Free radicals are produced in your body's normal functions. They are also introduced to the body through pollution, the UV rays of the sun and other environmental stresses.

Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by donated extra electrons to them, thereby stabilizing these otherwise dangerous molecules. Most anti aging products would have antioxidants in some form or other to neutralize these free radicals.

Typically, vitamin C, Vitamin E, green tea, pycnogenol, CoQ10 and Lipoic Acid are the antioxidants commonly used as oxidants in anti aging creams. Idebenone, found in Elizabeth Arden's Prevage is probably the most potent antioxidant known at the moment.

3. Include sunscreens to filter off damaging UV rays

The best defence is a good offense. Since sunlight wreaks havoc on the skin, prematurely aging the skin and possibly causing skin cancer, the best thing you can do is to wear a sunscreen all day long. The smart day creams should contains some form of sunscreen built into them. Use one that has at least SPF 15. Although it wouldn't erase your existing lines, it would slow down the formation of new wrinkles.

Compare the women who sustained a sunkissed tan throughout their youth and the women who preferred the look of fair skin and dilligently carried parasols or stayed out of the sun. When they reach their forties onwards, the difference is stark. Those who tanned look much older than those who shied from the sun. Photoaging is one of the key causes of premature aging of the skin.
Exposure to sunlight causes collagen deep in your skin to break down at a higher than normal rate. 70% of your skin is made up of collagen. As the levels of collagen decreases, skin sags, lines appear and skin loses its firmness. All these are the visible signs associated with aging. Wearing a day cream with SPF15 or higher all day long protects your skin from such damage and prevents photoaging.

4. Rebuild the skin from within.

Since the loss of collagen leads to saggy skin and wrinkles, if a cream can rebuild the skin's collagen, wouldn't that erase wrinkles?

That's the line of thought that fuels many anti wrinkle creams today.

This is where it gets very interesting. Many patents exist on new ingredients create to rebuild the skin from within. Lancome Absolue Premium boasts of a new lab created molecule, Pro-Xylane, that claims to act on every layer of the skin to redensify and restructure its matrix and rejuvenate the skin.

Clinique repairwear [http://www.getyouthful.com/clinique-repairwear.htm] contains type 1 collagen to firm your skin. Estee lauder advanced night repair [http://www.getyouthful.com/estee-lauder-night-repair.htm] range builds your skins hyaluronic acid stores and boosts collagen production. Many of this new generation of wrinkle creams tackle the problem by coaxing the skin to repair itself. These work from inside out, purportly levelling out the wrinkles.
